Here is every hero in LateTowers, in the order they unlock. Each hero has its own attack, its own drawing and its own moves. The numbers are where a hero starts at level 1: every upgrade adds a little, and milestones, research, stars and combos make them much stronger.
How to read the numbers
- Unlocks: the level you must reach before you can get the hero.
- Own: blue gems 💎 to own the hero. After that it costs gold 💰 each time you place it.
- Damage: damage per hit at level 1, compared with Darts the Monkey (1).
- Attacks/sec: how many times a second the hero attacks. Damage × attacks gives a rough idea of its strength.
- Range: in tiles on the board.
The roles
- 🎯 Single target
- Hits one balloon at a time, but hard. Good against big, tough balloons and bosses.
- ⚡ Rapid fire
- Many small shots a second. Good against fast balloons and ghosts that can only be hit now and then.
- 💥 Area
- Hits several balloons at once. These are the ones that clear the road when the waves get big.
- 🧊 Slows and holds
- Slows, pushes back or holds balloons still, so the other heroes get more time.
- 🔥 Damage over time
- Fire and poison that keep on hurting. Only half as strong against iron balloons.
- 🔭 Long range
- Sees far and goes for the toughest balloon. Can stand further from the road.
- 🤝 Support
- Makes the other heroes better, so it should stand close to them.
- 💰 Economy
- Doesn't fight, but pays gold after every level.

Good teams to start with
- Before level 15: Darts the Monkey and Kit the Ninja Fox in a bend, Boom the Bear where the balloons bunch up, and Frosty the Penguin or Snowy the Snowman to slow them.
- Levels 15–60: Wise Owl and Hawkeye the Eagle for the tough balloons, Poison Frog or Fire Dragon for the groups, and Farmer Monkey for extra gold.
- Later on: build around the combos, put Lion King and Dwarf Warrior in the middle of the team, and use heroes that hold balloons, like Tree Guardian, Ink Octopus and The Star Witch, in front of the ones that hit hardest.
