About LatePals
LatePals is a friendly social network for night owls, shift workers, students, new parents and anyone whose day doesn't follow nine-to-five. Chat with friends, share what you're up to and find people who are awake when you are.
Why LatePals exists
Most social networks are built around a day that starts at 7 a.m. and winds down at 11 p.m. Plenty of people don't live like that. Night owls do their best thinking after midnight. Nurses, drivers, warehouse crews and bakers work while the rest of the country sleeps. Students study late, new parents are up for the 3 a.m. feed, and friends in other time zones are awake when you are.
At 3 a.m. it can feel like everyone else has logged off. LatePals is built for those hours: a calm, friendly place where someone is always still up to talk to.
What you can do on LatePals
- Feed: share updates, photos, videos and GIFs, and comment and reply in threads.
- Messages: one-to-one chat on your phone and computer.
- Groups and pages: bring people together around a hobby, a city, a shift pattern or a small business.
- Marketplace: buy and sell second-hand things locally.
- Reels: short vertical videos from the community.
- Journal: our own articles about sleep, night work, friendship and staying safe online.
Who's behind it
LatePals is an independent project, built and run from Denmark. We're not part of a big tech company, and the site grows with what its members ask for. Many features exist because someone wrote in and asked.
How we run it
- Free for everyone. LatePals is funded by advertising from Google AdSense. Ads are always clearly labelled as ads and are never dressed up as posts from members.
- We never sell your data. What we collect, and why, is set out in our Privacy Policy.
- Kindness first. Our Community Guidelines are short and clear, and we enforce them.
- Your account is yours. You can delete your account and all of your data yourself, immediately.
- We care about your sleep too. It might sound odd from a network for night owls, but we'd rather you came back tomorrow rested than scrolled until 5 a.m. That's why we write pieces like this one on screens and sleep.
How we write the Journal
The articles in the LatePals Journal are written by us. They're not copied, bought in or mass-produced. Every article:
- is based on published research and guidance from official sources (such as health authorities and peer-reviewed studies), listed under the article;
- is clear about what the evidence shows and what is still uncertain;
- is general information. Health articles don't replace a doctor, and say so;
- is reviewed and updated when the evidence or official advice changes.
